Our Mission
We call upon students, friends, family, and supporters of Torah across the world to stand with one of our generation’s most dedicated servants of the Sepharadic tradition—Hakham Jacob de Oliveira of Brasília.
Hakham de Oliveira has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He is currently undergoing tests and requires urgent treatment in São Paulo. The cost of this treatment is significant—approximately R$9,000 Brazilian reais—and while half has already been raised, we are now reaching out to our wider community to help close the gap and ensure that he receives the full care he needs.
This is not merely a medical emergency. It is a sacred opportunity to support a Torah scholar whose life has been devoted to reviving and spreading the light of Sepharadic wisdom across Latin America.
At the age of 19, Hakham Jacob de Oliveira left Brazil to study in Israel. There, he learned from some of the greatest Sepharadic sages alive and returned home carrying the fire of their teachings. His impact has been profound. He founded Judaismo-Iberico.org, a pioneering institution dedicated to the spiritual and intellectual revival of Spanish and Portuguese Jewish communities throughout Latin America. Through his tireless leadership, countless souls have returned to their heritage with knowledge, integrity, and faith.
For many of us, this work provided a spiritual home, a compass, and a connection to our deepest roots. The work Hakham de Oliveira began laid the foundation upon which we later built the Obadyah Alliance. His influence remains central to who we are.
Now, this beloved teacher and guide faces a battle for his life. And now we have the chance to support him.
